Goat Pepper Soup

A dish that embodies all African cultures. Simple and delicious. Soft, melt-off-the bone goat meat from Mama Ashanti’s coals is cooked for hours with spices and chilies. Slurp it down with your choice of accompaniment any time of day. It’s great for hangovers too.

Suya

In Northern Nigeria, it’s made by the Hausa men 'Mai nama'. Here, it’s Mama Asahnti’s special blend of spices, herbs and a special peanut paste marinade that elevates these beef/chicken skewers and sets them apart from the Kenyan mshikaki, to become one of the ‘best hits’ off the menu.

Egusi Soup (Fish/Goat)

Nigeria’s most popular soup is oh so flavourful with a satisfying and unique taste! Mama Ashanti’s finely ground Egusi (hard pumpkin seeds) combined with goat/fish, are fried in palm-nut oil, pepper and spices for a mouth-watering kick. Added spinach completes this delicious medley. Try it with plain rice or pounded yam.

Eforiro & Pounded Yam

“Efo” means “vegetable” while “riro” means “stir”. This makes Eforiro the Nigerian version of stir-fried vegetables. The Yorubas used meats like shaki (offals), beef, crayfish, dry fish and others to add texture and flavour. So do we. Pair this rich soup with a festive ball of yam pounded to submission, to mop your plate clean.
